    ​Weekly News Digest – June 20, 2021.

    1. - As a part of a medical cooperation between Israel and Kenya, Amb. Lotem together with a Head of the Bone Marrow Transplant and Immunotherapy Department at Hadassah Medical Center (Jerusalem) Prof. Polina Stepensky & Head nurse Mr. Yevgeni Frank- Kamenetsky visited Kenyatta National Hospital

    - Prof. Stepensky held a lecture with Kenyatta National Hospital staff, sharing how her team does research & conducts CAR-T cell therapy. This new method treats severe blood cancers with genetic engineering by modifying patient’s own blood cells to form an immune response against cancerous cells.

    - They also visited Ward 1-E, a children's cancer ward and pediatrics ward 3-D at Kenyatta National Hospital, which has been adopted by Israel in Kenya. Prof. Stepensky wishes all the kids quick recovery and confirmed that Hadassah Medical Center in Israel are opened for collaboration.
     
    2. Deputy Ambassador Dvora Dorsman
    - I had the privilege to deliver to Taita Taveta County​ 50 mobility carts for children & grownups living with disability - the donation event was a collaboration of Israel in Kenya , MASHAV & Partners for Care  an American NGO.

    3. - Amb. Michael Lotem in conjunction with Gertrude's Children's Hospital hosted Dr. Danielli, a Pediatric Intervention Cardiologist & Irena Haima, an Ultra-sound specialist both from Israel. The visits aims to foster cooperation by sharing knowledge in cardiology & offer advice on complex conditions  

    - The team also met with the leadership Kenya Cardiac Society and Kenyatta National Hospital to assess more areas of collaboration through specialized training, capacity building and medical exchange programmes for doctors.

    4. Israeli ex-military volunteers from @Afrikan.Tanzania have finished renovating Mtindili Primary School in Tanzania
    -100 new school desks
    -8 renovated & painted classrooms
    -700 students who will start eating regularly at school from next week
    -25,000L tank to collect rainwater
